Home Secretary

RT Hon. Shabana Mahmood MP. was appointed Secretary of State for the Home Department on 05 September 2025.
From July 5, 2024, to September 5, 2025, she served as both the Lord Chancellor and the Secretary of State for Justice. In July 2024, she was chosen to represent Birmingham Ladywood as an MP.

In her first significant engagement in her role, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood came to an agreement with her counterparts from the Five Eyes—the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to facilitate the return of people who lack the legal justification to stay in any of the partner nations.
